Bridging the Gap to Independence

The Rockland Independent Living Center has been an advocate for equality in all areas of life for persons with disabilities for almost twenty-five years. We are the only designated Independent Living Center in Rockland County and take our mission of advocacy seriously. The Rockland Independent Living Center firmly believes educating the public regarding people with disabilities is a very important issue, starting with school age children through adulthood. Even in today’s highly diverse and cognizant world, it is staggering the number of people who do not know how to react, treat or speak to a person with a disability, especially when the disability is prominent. People with disabilities are still struggling to be treated equally in society.
Our constituency is comprised of all ages and varying disabilities. Programs and resources that we offer provide needed support to individuals with all disabilities at literally every stage of life and include services in the areas of: Personal Attendant Care, Work Incentives Counseling, School-to-Adult Life Transition, Deaf and Hard of Hearing advocacy and support, Traumatic Brain Injury and Medicaid Service Coordination, Long Term Planning and Peer Advocacy. We have been serving the lower Hudson Valley community since 1987.
