Computer Classes at Rockland Independent Living Center
Computer Classes run on a six-week basis. There is a limit of eight people per class and participants are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration for the current session of classes is closed, but adults with disabilities who wish to enroll in upcoming classes should contact Peter Stirpe at 845-624-1366 ext. 120 or by email at pstirpe@rilc.org to be included on the participant list. We hope to expand our course offerings as demand grows, so please let us know your suggestions for the future.
Upcoming Offerings:
Beginning Computing Class: a course for students who are unfamiliar with the basics of personal computing. Participants learn how to operate the keyboard and mouse, how to navigate the computer, save, edit, cut, paste, and copy and create documents, and how to use the internet and email.
Session I: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (April 17, 2012 through May 24, 2012)
Session II: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (April 17, 2012 through May 24, 2012)

Beginning Microsoft Word: A class for users who have mastered basic skills of computing. Participants must have previously attended Basic Computing or must seek permission from the instructor to enroll. Participants learn how to format resumes, letters and other correspondence, how to create outlines, and how to insert pictures and graphs into text.

Beginning Photoshop: a course for students unfamiliar with Adobe Photoshop. Participants learn the toolset for image manipulation and how to transfer images to a digital environment. Students create digital collages.

Intermediate Photoshop: A class for users who have mastered the basics of Adobe Photoshop. Participants must have previously attended Beginning Photoshop or must seek permission from the instructor to enroll. This course will expand on the use of the tool palette, using the numerous choices for image adjustments, working with and applying filters, creating and using multiple layers. Students will complete projects to hone their new skills.
