Bilingual Advocacy Services Specialist
Rockland Independent Living Center, a consumer-directed, cross-disability advocacy and service organization is seeking a full-time Bilingual Advocacy Services Specialist. The position is responsible for consumer advocacy and service provision in the areas of: transportation, assistive technology, housing, nondiscrimination, barrier removal and information and referral services.
Successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in the Human Services field along with three years’ experience, and be fluent in English and Spanish. American Sign Language fluency preferred as well. Satisfactory background check required. Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong work ethic and strict confidentiality a must. IT Coordinator
Rockland Independent Living Center, a consumer-directed, cross-disability advocacy and service organization is seeking a full-time IT Coordinator. This position will be responsible for the maintenance of IT applications, coordinating and providing backbone and end-user hardware and software support, as well as managing social media communications. A specific focus will be on assisting with database development, implementation and maintenance, along with HIPAA Security.
Successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in the IT field along with three years’ experience; Masters preferred. Strong working knowledge of various operating systems, backend configuration and programming required. Satisfactory background check required. Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong work ethic and strict confidentiality a must. Must have own transportation and ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Peer Recovery Specialist
Rockland Independent Living Center, a consumer-directed, cross-disability advocacy and service organization is seeking a full-time Peer Recovery Specialist. The position is responsible for assisting individuals with psychiatric disabilities to participate in diverse, person-centered, self-directed services and meaningful activities that promote empowerment. Work with participants toward their recovery goals, both individually and in group settings. Provide direct contact, outreach, curriculum development, group facilitation, community oversight, and crisis support as needed.
Successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in the Human Services field along with two years’ experience. Candidate must possess a lived experience with mental health and/ or recovery. Satisfactory background check required. Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong work ethic and strict confidentiality a must. Peer Recovery Specialist
Description:
Assist individuals with psychiatric disabilities to participate in diverse, person-centered, self-directed services and meaningful activities that promote empowerment. Work with participants toward their recovery goals, both individually and in group settings. Provide direct contact, outreach, curriculum development, group facilitation, community oversight, and crisis support as needed.
Duties:
· Reach out and engage individuals with significant psychiatric disabilities and connect them with natural supports; carry a caseload of these individuals with the purpose of handling all service coordination; provide wellness coaching, counseling, planning and other needed supports.
· Assist individuals in understanding and creating Wellness and Recovery Action Plans (WRAPs.)
· Advocate for each person by developing an understanding of who they are now, their life experiences, and their goals for the future. Interview those individuals who have a primary impact on the prospective consumer.
· Maintain linkages with community partners and other county resources specific to education, employment, housing, health care, recreation, and social opportunities.
· Coordinate and integrate mental health and physical health services by connecting individuals to effective clinical services, a Primary Care Physician and/or a Medical Home.
· Provide demand responsive, flexible, intensive peer support during periods when individuals with psychiatric disabilities are experiencing increased vulnerability and are at greatest risk.
· This position may include some evening and weekend hours.
Skills/Qualifications required:
· Must possess strong organizational and writing skills. Candidate must also be flexible, respectful, creative and person-centered.
· This position requires a thorough understanding of the process and possibility of robust recovery for people diagnosed with psychiatric disabilities. People with personal experience as a recipient of mental health services and/or personal recovery are encouraged to apply.
· Candidate should be cognizant of all relevant employment, education, housing, entitlement, and social supports in the community and proactively facilitate connections to those services.
· Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and two (2) years experience.
· Satisfactory Criminal Background Check required..
· Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and Powerpoint, with a strong proficiency emphasis in Excel required. Proficient in various accounting software packages
Full Time: 40 hours/week.
