Executive Director
Rockland County, New York

We are seeking an Executive Director for a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to advocate for the human rights of and services for people with disabilities to further their full integration and participation into society. Executive Director must work closely with grassroots membership as it advocates for disability laws, policies and regulations that will promote and protect the basic civil rights of people with disabilities .

Under the general direction of the Governing Board, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall strategic and operational management that includes:

• Development and implementation of policy, budget, and programs;
• Provides strategic direction and day-to-day operational oversight of RILC;
• Provides leadership and motivation to staff of RILC;
• Develops and implements strategies for resource development and allocation consistent with the strategy and operational plans of RILC;
• Formulate and implement an integrated strategic plan;
• Market the organization and its services as well as act as the chief spokesperson in the community (which includes travel, as necessary)

The successful candidate will have the following demonstrated skills and abilities:

• Strong leadership skills;
• Proven track record in systems advocacy activities;
• Strong skills in fiscal management and program development/implementation;
• Staff development skills and strategies;
• Knowledge of the independent living movement and associated federal/state laws, policies and regulations that affect the lives and services of people with disabilities;
• Strong skill-set in resource development and marketing;
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills;
• Demonstrate proficiency in working within economically, ethnically, and disable diverse communities;
• Computer Knowledge and applications required.
